She is the subject of a Pulitzer-prizewinning history book, <em>A Midwife&#8217;s Tale<\/em> by Harvard history professor <a href=\"https:\/\/history.fas.harvard.edu\/people\/laurel-thatcher-ulrich\">Laurel Thatcher Ulrich<\/a> and a 1997 PBS \/ American Experience <a href=\"https:\/\/essentials.neh.gov\/projects\/midwifes-tale\">documentary<\/a>.
