The newly-militarized U.S. joined a global conflict and sought to be a world leader in its postwar resolution; the nation shifted towards cultural and political conservatism and xenophobic nativism partly in response to the influx of foreign-born; and it became a more &#8220;modern&#8221; nation in many new and measurable ways.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/munchweb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/roaring-twenties-vs-great-depression.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/munchweb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/roaring-twenties-vs-great-depression.jpg\" width=\"574\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, Feb 13:<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Class cancelled due to snow.<\/strong><\/span> Reading is GML Ch 19 &#8220;Safe for Democracy&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, Feb 15:<\/strong> Reading is GML Ch 20 &#8220;The Twenties.&#8221; Lecture will cover GML 19 and 20.
